POLICE imprisonment, JUDICIARY released. Is everything okay? First of all, we express our full solidarity with the comrades back in the wild. We are pleased that, after the events of ' Umberto I, Caesar, Francis and Roger are back among us.
The significance of the measure by which the work of police in Palermo is essentially disowned, can not and should not be misunderstood.
The narrowing of the spaces of freedom and democracy in Italy dell'agibilità is a process that goes on for several years now.
In this climate of growing repression of dissent, police in Palermo's approach is aligned with a trend already proven in other cities of Italy where social conflict and the ability of group opposition movements are much higher.
Last January, the charges and arrests in front of the Laboratory Zeta formed a first significant jump in quality of repression in the city. Today, even a flyer becomes an excuse to snap the handcuffs and launch a movement to clear intimidation. No matter if, after the fact, the judiciary sanctioned the enormity of objective measures: the challenge is already consumed.
But it was equally serious in the two days of mobilization in support of the detainees, all the proposals that went in the direction of a more open vision of the protest were systematically boycotted. Who today purports special merits for the liberation of prisoners, until yesterday claimed that not even a megaphone intent to disturb the court issued its decision. An attitude che tradisce l’incondizionata fiducia da parte dei barricaderi di professione nelle regole dello stato di diritto, nella legalità dal volto umano, nelle potenzialità democratiche dei poteri dello stato e finanche delle forze di polizia.
Questa constatazione rimanda immediatamente alla responsabilità a cui ciascuna realtà politica e ciascun individuo sono chiamati nel momento in cui il livello politico dello scontro si alza in maniera esponenziale. Una responsabilità che non può essere disattesa né prima, né durante, né dopo qualunque iniziativa militante.
Regalare energie e risorse alla repressione è un lusso che non ci si può permettere. Sarebbe molto più utile, invece, impiegare ogni effort to build real conflicts that undermine the basic consensus on which rest the strong powers of this city.
Hence the need to understand how crucial abandon any compromise with the institutional policy, assuming the problem of political-legal defense of the movement (which we raised in very difficult times and promptly ignored) in a concrete and effective.
Because if the judiciary released today, tomorrow may flap in and throw away the key. Work to avoid a gender perspective or know how to properly address, is a priority to which nobody should ignore.
